Radiation Badge Service
Your oven and refrigerator have temperature monitors to control how hot or cold you want to safely cook and store your food. Cars have speedometers to help you know what speed you are going, tachometers to show the revolutions per minute of your engine to make sure you do not burn it up, and various emergency monitors showing engine temperature, battery charge, and other potential problems or maintenance times for your vehicle. Monitors in all aspects of our life aid us to control and understand our environment, but more importantly help us to know if our environment is safe or not. When you see that you are speeding, you slow down to a safer speed to avoid an accident or ticket. When you see molding food in the refrigerator, you turn the temperature control down to preserve your food for safe consumption. Before you turn on your IPod, you notice that the volume monitor is turned up all the way, so you turn it down before turning it on and blowing out your eardrums. To keep us safe, it is extremely important to have monitoring devices available to us, especially when dealing with radiation,
and hazardous substances and procedures.

In the dental office, there are various dangerous substances and procedures performed referred to as occupational hazards. Dentists and their assistants use dangerous chemicals for various applications like to sedate the patient (nitrous oxide gas), decontaminate instruments (gluderaldehyde liquid sterliants), amalgam fillings (mercury) and the exposure to radiation while taking x-rays. To insure the safety of employees, common sense and employer responsibility dictate that all hazards should be monitored to confirm that the workplace is safe. In addition government regulations that pass legislation for employee safety (OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard) also dictate that all hazards must be monitored.
IC Care, Inc. provides the following monitors to insure knowledge of a safe dental environment:
