Cosmetic Polishing Restorative™
About CPR™
CPR™ is a unit dose sapphire prophylaxis paste applied with a prophy cup or brush for safe and effective cleaning and polishing for natural teeth, and to renew composite, porcelain, veneers, and other cosmetic restorations to a like new condition.
CPR™ is designed as a pumice substitute, or to be used in tandem with the routine prophylaxis appointment by the hygienist.
CPR™ is also formulated for a new practice building procedure,
“COSMETIC PROPHYLAXIS” which is an elective procedure to maintain High Tech smiles for increased patient satisfaction and new production generation for the hygienist and dentist.

Full Mouth Prophy...No Guilt !!
CPR™ Sapphire Prophy Paste now has a smoother, splatter resistant formula. To replace rough pumice and expensive composite pastes, CPR™ is safe for routine maintenance of veneers, restores brilliance to dull crowns, removes up to four shades of stain from composites, and cleans and polishes natural teeth and all other surfaces as quickly as coarse pumice, with less abrasivity than some daily use toothpastes. 1 micron uniform Sapphire spherical composition makes CPR™ perfect for non-abrasive routine mixed mouth prophylaxis, and as a final step after placement and adjustments and to maintain all cosmetic restorations. Routine polishing with CPR™ creates super smooth surfaces, making it difficult for adhesion of biofilm, which minimizes stain and caries.

Uses for CPR™
Routine Prophylaxis – With its non-gritty, non-pumice, 1μ sapphire formula, CPR™ is kinder to dentition than some regular daily use toothpastes, however it cleans and polishes teeth as well and as quickly as coarse pumice pastes. CPR™ also brings back luster on all cosmetic restorations
and cleans up to 4 shades of stain off of older composites. For use on enamel, dentin, composite, porcelain and veneers, CPR™ is a much better option than pumice for quick, safe, and effective routing full mouth, mixed
mouth prophylaxis.
Composites – Used as a final step after placement, CPR™ brings out the luster and provides a micro-fine polish to provide less surface area for future plaque buildup. On old composites, CPR™ removes up to 4 shades of stain, and polishes micro-smooth to minimize future staining.
Porcelain (Including Cerac® and E4D™
materials)– Used as a final step after placement, CPR™ smoothes out adjustment scratches for a “re-glazed” look, and the smooth micro-polish minimizes abrasion to opposing natural teeth. On old dull porcelain, CPR™ brings back the brilliant shine, and used routinely, CPR™ will keep the unit looking as new as possible and provide protection for opposing teeth from the rough porcelain surface.
Veeners – Used as a final step after placement, CPR™ smoothes out adjustment scratches and brings out the natural beauty of High Tech materials. Used routinely in tandem with the regular prophy appointment, or as a stand alone routine cosmetic maintenance procedure (“Cosmetic Prophylaxis” billed as a D2999 elective procedure), CPR™ will help keep “Make Over” smiles looking “like new” year after year.
Bleaching – Used as a final step, helps remove residues and provides a smooth polish to minimize immediate and future staining. For those patients with stained composite restorations within the bleached smile, CPR™ removes up to 4 shades of stain, and polishes micro-smooth to minimize future staining.
All other Surfaces (gold, amalgam, titanium…) - Aids in stain and scratch removal, while providing a clean and polished look.
Special Uses (sensitive teeth, stubborn stain, black line stain, tactile discomfort…) - CPR™ may be used with great success on every surface, every time for mixed mouth polishing with amazing results.
Need for CPR™
There is a great need for high tech polishing products to be used with high tech dental restoratives. As you know, the entire dental industry has been moving away from traditional amalgam restorations to using High Tech materials - composite, veneers, and porcelain type restorations. However, prophylaxis agents have not advanced from using stone age materials – damaging volcanic sand, aka regular pumice prophy pastes. In order to provide complete patient satisfaction and care of cosmetic materials, there is a tremendous need for the development of advanced High Tech universal prophylaxis products designed for High Tech materials and the now typical mixed mouth patient. In addition, even after placement of millions of ceramic restorations, there is no ADA procedure name or code for maintaining them.
In the hygiene world, it has become common knowledge that pumice prophy pastes seriously damage teeth and cosmetic restorations. Rather than demanding that dental manufacturers create new products that are as effective and less abrasive than low tech pumice, the hygiene community developed a “Selective Polishing” concept. Selective Polishing acknowledges that pumice damages teeth, so only those teeth that were seriously stained should be polished with FINE pumice. That is to say, rather than damaging all teeth and surfaces, only damage the stained surfaces. However in practice, the most commonly used prophy paste is course pumice which causes the most damage, and patients, unaware of the damage pumice causes, normally demand that ALL of their teeth be cleaned, not just the stained ones.
As an answer to these voids and problems in delivering high quality patient care, CPR™ was developed for many applications in modern dentistry. CPR™ is a High Tech prophy formulation designed to keep pace with advancing dentistry to be used to safely and effectively to clean, maintain, polish, and if routinely used, provide “stain resistance” for every smile, every surface, every time.

Use CPR™ Because Teeth have Heart!
